Scripture: Matthew 26:20-30

Preparation, Passover, prayer – Thursday is the most event-filled day of Holy Week. Jesus’ words, actions, and prayers give us a glimpse into Jesus’ humanity – His authentic, raw emotions and sacrificial love for His disciples - even His betrayer. In Jesus’ last hours, still teaching His friends to live a life of love and worship, Jesus washed His disciple’s feet and gave them a charge, “Just as I have loved you, you are to love one another.” Then, to demonstrate His love, Jesus left the garden and made His way to the cross to give abundant life and salvation to the lost and the broken. Jesus loves you, and He wants you to love others just as He did.

Life Application:
  • Show love to someone today by serving them in a simple way – pay for a coffee, pray for a friend, mow your neighbor’s lawn. Ask God to reveal the needs of others as you go throughout your day.
  • Today is a day of preparation. Prepare your heart with prayer, reflecting on God’s Word, and fasting.
Prayer Prompt:
  • Ask God to help you love like Jesus, acknowledging that you can’t do it in your own power, but only with the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • Pray Psalm 139:23-24 to prepare your heart to live a life of love and worship this week: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.”
