Read: “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” Acts 2:42
We have reached the end of our 21 days of prayer. Did you stick with it? If you missed a few days, don’t beat yourself up! Every day offers a new opportunity to spend time with the Lord.
Even though our 21-day challenge has ended, it doesn’t mean your daily prayer and study have to. In fact, this is only the beginning. Journalist Henry Hazlitt said, “practice forms habits and habits make memory unnecessary. The rule is nothing; the application is everything.” So, how can you apply what you’ve gained this month and continue with your quiet time all year long?
First, factor quiet time into your daily schedule. Just as you would allot time in your planner or digital calendar for a meeting or an appointment, book time with God! Make it a non-negotiable.
Second, if you’re looking for a study, we recommend heading to the YouVersion app. You can find Bible reading plans based on books of the Bible or specific topics that pertain to your occupation or stage of life. You can even set the app to send you reminders to make sure you don’t miss a day.
Finally, invest in community this spring by joining a Growth Group. This month, we’ve encouraged you to find someone that can encourage you and challenge you in your walk with Christ. What better place to find that person than in a Growth Group? Groups meet throughout the week, and there’s a group for every age, stage and season of life. If you haven’t signed up for a Growth Group yet, it’s not too late! Spring groups begin next week.
We are praying for you as you continue to seek God through a daily time of prayer and scripture reading in 2019!
Do: Two is better than one! Find a YouVersion plan to begin with a friend, family or coworker. Encourage each other to be faithful in completing it, and ask each other what God’s been teaching you through it. Join a spring Growth Group, and invite someone to join it with you.
