Adoration (Praise God for who He is and ask Him to reveal more of Himself)
Read: Jeremiah 29:12-13
I’m a person who enjoys being alone. I find that taking time to get away allows me to clear my head and recharge, and as an introvert, moments like that are sacred. I’ll often use that time to talk to the Lord. Unavoidably, though, things start to creep in – a comment someone made earlier in the day, my (growing) to-do list or a notification on my phone. And just like that, my moment of peace is invaded by distraction. My heart-to-heart with Jesus quickly turns to John Mayer theology: “half of my heart’s got a grip on the situation.”
But when Jesus says, “then you will seek me and find me,” He includes a parameter: “when you seek me with all your heart.” As we dive into thirty days of prayer together, there’s one thing that unites us all: we’re seeking something. Some of us need answers; some of us need healing; and some of us need a miracle. But what if we begin by simply seeking Jesus? What if we get serious about prayer and commit to pursuing Him wholeheartedly? Power down. As Jesus said, “go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen.” Ask Him to capture your heart today – your whole heart – and seek and find that He is good.
Pray: God, over the next 30 days, steal my attention. Reveal Yourself to me in new, exciting ways. Help me protect my time with You, and help me to seek you with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
