Week Two | Day 1

Read: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, ‘rivers of living water will flow from within them.’” John 7:37-38

Last week, we tackled an issue that so many people wrestle with - the feeling that we’re never enough. But God knew that we could never be enough, so He sent someone who was MORE than enough - Jesus. Unfortunately, memorizing that truth - even tattooing it on our forehead - isn’t adequate to produce real change. The problem with most of us is that while we know God’s truth and are even convinced that we really believe it, we just don’t live like it.

So, if we really do believe that Jesus is more than enough, why do we keep running to everything else BUT Him to satisfy our longing to be valued and worthy? Why does our time with Him become more of a chore rather than the thing that breathes life into us daily? Maybe we’re stubborn, maybe we want a quick fix or maybe we simply think we know what’s best.

Whatever the excuse, there is comfort in knowing that God put those deep desires inside of us for a good and holy purpose - so that we might seek Him, know Him and experience the mysteries of a truly abundant life with Him. So, when it’s tempting to look to something or someone else to meet those needs, remember this - broken things and broken people found in a broken world will never make us whole - only God can do that. And because He is more than enough, we don’t have to be! So if you are thirsty, go to the real source of living water and drink. He promises you’ll never thirst again.

Pray: God, remind me daily that you are enough. As I begin each day this week, let wake up celebrating that I can find rest and my satisfaction in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
