Read: “I - yes, I alone - will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.” Isaiah 43:25
There are over eight billion different Google results for the word “love,” and 900 million for the word “attraction.” If you asked someone what the most attractive quality in a person was, you’d probably get almost as many answers. Media is obsessed with it - that first spark of attraction, that “love at first sight” feeling. You spot a certain someone, and BAM - it’s like a moth towards a bug zapper. Now, while physical attraction isn’t as dangerous as a bug zapper (most of the time,) we’ve got to remember that it isn’t the end-all and be-all of relationships; Christ has called us to so much more. This week, we’ll take a peek behind the beauty curtain to get a good look at the heart of man - character.
Before we dive any deeper into this series, we want to take a minute to remind you of something big. No matter what your past love life looks like, there is no sin that is bigger than the cross. Relationships are always messy, and thinking through the past can be painful. But there is nothing you have done that has made you unworthy of Christ’s forgiveness. When Satan tries to convince you otherwise, when he lies and says that you’re not worthy of a Christ-centered relationship, remind him of the truth found in today’s verse.
Pray: God, thank you for love, and for the example you set for us by sending your son to die on the cross. Thank you for forgiveness. Though my past isn’t exactly what I thought it would be, thank you for forgiving each and every one of my mistakes, and for providing a way for me to have a future with a relationship that honors you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
