Blessed are Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness | Craig Curtis

What is God's will for my life?

Knowing God's will starts with knowing God's heart.

Matthew 5:3-6 NIV

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

filled = satisfied

righteousness = being right with God

Ecclesiastes 1:18 NLT

18 The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow.

Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 NLT

10 Anything I wanted, I would take. I denied myself no pleasure. I even found great pleasure in hard work, a reward for all my labors. 11 But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT

13 That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

"Fearing God" Means:

- being in awe of Him

- letting His awesomeness be the biggest factor of your life

2 Things that Keep Us from Being Hungry / Thirsty for God:

1. We fill up on the wrong things.

Psalm 34:8 NIV

8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT

18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

2. We overcomplicate God's will and underestimate His goodness.

The first step in discovering God's will is living by His Word.

Psalm 32:8 NIV

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you

Am I hungry for God?

"God, thank You for making a way for me to be right with You.  Thank You for sending Jesus for me.  Fill me today; I'm tired of not being satisfied.  I am coming to Your table to taste and see the goodness of God."
