“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” Psalm 139:13-14
Type Fours are expressive, dramatic and individualistic. If you’re not sold on Enneagram because you think it boxes people in, there’s a chance you might be a Four. Because above all else, Fours fear lacking personal significance and unique identity. In a place of health and spiritual maturity, Type Fours show us God’s creativity and depth.
As part of the Heart Triad, Fours revel in experiencing emotions - from happy to sad and everything in between. Out of their fear of not being unique, an unhealthy Four obsesses on the idea that something in their life is missing. If they could just find that missing puzzle piece, that thing that makes them truly special, they would finally be able to feel complete. Fours, we want to remind you that nothing is missing. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by God, who knit you together in unique and complex ways. Celebrate that!
While you also love to relish each and every emotion, Fours, we want to remind you that you are not your emotions, and that no emotion is final. Ecclesiastes 3:4 says there is, “A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.” Make sure that you aren’t so caught up in your emotions that you miss the season in which God has placed you. You have an incredible gift of empathy and creativity; let God show you how to share that to lead others to know, love and follow Him.
The Four's Prayer: Thank you Father for allowing us to feel deep emotions. Help us also follow your commands when it doesn't feel right. Help us see our uniqueness and love the way you made us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
