Discussion: The message describes three approaches to reading the Bible: quid pro quo, honey do, and bank account. Which of these three do you resonate with the most?  

How does the Word work in our lives?

1) It’s personal

Exercise: Write down one way you’ve seen the Word work in a personal way in your life. Be specific.  

2) It’s powerful

Discussion: Where have you seen the Word work in power in your life? Do you ever doubt it’s power to impact certain situations?  

3) It penetrates

Discussion: What are some particular passages from the Bible that penetrate your heart?  

4) It’s our authority

Discussion: To what extent do we believe this? Is there any area of your life where you are not relying on the Bible as your authority?
