Gift of Grace

Begin with two minutes of stillness and silence before God.

Throughout all of the Scripture passages this week, there is a continuing message- salvation is through faith in Jesus, not by any works. Today’s passage makes that incredibly cut and dry.

“That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (verse 9)

It is that easy. Confess and believe. Not a list of rules to follow or chores to check off first. No complicated process. Salvation is as close as your mouth and heart.

As you read this today, if you have been working to check off boxes to gain salvation or waiting until you are more “worthy,” you can stop your striving. We will never work hard enough to earn salvation or be worthy enough to receive it, but that is the beauty of grace. God offers salvation for free! All you have to do is open your mouth and heart and accept it.

Of course, when we accept this gift, our lives should look different. We will never be perfect, but our lives should reflect God as His Spirit lives in us once we give our lives to Him. And part of that is sharing the gift we have received with others.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news” (verse 15). Once we accept God’s salvation, His purpose for each of us is to share it with others.

Do you need to confess and believe today to receive God’s gracious gift of salvation and eternal life?

Who can you share this gift with?

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
  • Use the S.O.A.P. Method to study God’s Word.
  • SCRIPTURE: What stands out to you in today’s passage?
  • OBSERVATION: What is this text saying? What is the context? How does it fit with the verses before and after it? Are there any commands, instructions, or promises?
  • APPLICATION: How can you apply this verse to your life? What does this mean today? What is God saying to you?
  • PRAYER: Respond to the passage in prayer. Ask God to help you apply this truth to your life and spend some time listening to what He may be telling you.
