Begin with two minutes of stillness and silence before God.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
In a world full of competing voices, trendy philosophies, and spiritual shortcuts, Paul’s letter to the Colossians reminds us to stay rooted in Jesus. He is not just part of our lives...He is our life. Everything we need for salvation, purpose, and peace is found in Him alone.
Christ Is Supreme...Keep Him at the Center (Col. 1:15-20)
Paul opens with a breathtaking picture of who Jesus is:
“The image of the invisible God”
“By Him all things were created”
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together”
Is Christ truly the center of my life...or just a piece of it?
Don’t Settle for Shallow Faith...Grow Deeper (Col. 1:28-29)
Paul’s passion was to see every believer grow to full maturity, not just stay at surface-level faith.
“He is the one we proclaim… so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”
Am I coasting spiritually or actively growing in Christ?
Stay Rooted and Built Up in Truth (Col. 2:6-8)
We’re warned not to be taken captive by “hollow and deceptive philosophy”. Instead, we’re called to:
- Be rooted (stable below the surface)
- Be built up (strengthened over time)
- Be thankful (focused on what we have in Christ)
Am I grounded in God’s Word, or swayed by popular culture and opinions?
Christ Is Enough...Don’t Add or Subtract (Col. 2:9–10)
In Christ, “the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” You don’t need to chase mystical experiences or legalistic rules...Jesus is sufficient.
"You have been brought to fullness in Him.”
Am I living like Christ is enough...or looking elsewhere for fulfillment?
When we’re rooted in Christ, we won’t be shaken by the winds of doubt, culture, or confusion. He holds all things together...including us. We don’t need more religion, more rules, or more approval. We need more of Jesus...and He is already ours.
Dear Jesus, You are enough. Help me stay rooted in You when the world tries to pull me away. Grow my faith, guard my heart, and remind me daily that everything I need is found in You. In Your name I pray, Amen.
Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
