Begin with 2 minutes of silence and stillness before God.

Revelation 19 unveils a breathtaking scene of the triumphant return of Jesus Christ. It portrays a majestic picture of the ultimate victory of Christ over the forces of darkness, culminating in His glorious return as the conquering King. This chapter resounds with the resounding chorus of heaven's joy and celebration.

The opening of this chapter echoes the praises of heaven, rejoicing over the downfall of Babylon and acknowledging the sovereignty of God. The chorus of "hallelujahs" fills the air. John witnesses the scene of the supper of the Lamb, symbolizing the union of Christ with His bride, the Church. This joyous occasion signifies the ultimate fulfillment of God's redemptive plan, where believers are united with Christ in eternal fellowship and celebration.

The chapter then shifts focus to the depiction of Christ as the victorious Warrior-King, riding on a white horse, representing purity. His eyes blaze with righteous judgment, and on His robe and thigh, the name "King of Kings and Lord of Lords" is inscribed. This vivid imagery portrays the power, authority, and sovereignty of Christ over all creation. It's a reminder to believers that despite the turmoil and chaos in the world, Christ's victory is certain, and He will return in glory to establish His Kingdom.

As followers of Christ, Revelation 19 calls us to anticipate His return with eager expectation and faithful readiness. We are called to live in a manner that reflects our allegiance to the victorious King, actively participating in His work and spreading the message of His love to all.

Take 2 minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
  • Everyone has some kind of routine in their life. Today's challenge is to incorporate prayers into your routine. For me, every time I drive somewhere, I pray. Whether it's in your car like me, or in the morning before you start your day, where can you add prayer into your day-to-day life?
  • Prayer: Heavenly Father, we praise You for the triumphant return of Your Son, Jesus Christ, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Help us to live with joyful anticipation of His coming, eagerly participating in Your Kingdom work, and sharing the hope of His salvation with others. Grant us strength and perseverance to remain faithful until that glorious day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Family Devo: Revelation 19

Head: the knowledge of God and His Word | Heart: the personal connection from scripture | Hands: a missional mindset

Head

Throughout this chapter, John describes the many praises that are being given to God in heaven. He compares these praises to the sounds of a vast crowd, the roar of the ocean waves, and the crash of loud thunder. These praises are given to honor God for everything that he has done and to celebrate the victory that is to come. Then John describes how heaven opens and he sees a rider on a white horse named Faithful and True who will release the wrath of God. He then sees a beast with an army to fight against the rider; however, the beast is captured along with his false prophet and they are thrown into the fiery lake for all of the evil and deception that they have caused. For “The Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns”.

Heart

Can you imagine what it must have been like for John to get a glimpse of what has not yet happened, but is to come? Not only did he get to hear how loud the praises to God are going to be, but he also got to see God’s victory against evil. How exciting it is that we can look forward to the second coming of Christ and for all evil to be destroyed. For a time is coming when sin and evil will be no more and we can rejoice and give praise to God for everything that He has done for us. “Praise the Lord! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.”

Hands

Take time to praise God for everything that he has already done in your life and for everything that he is going to do.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for everything that you have already done in our lives and for everything that is yet to come. Thank You for the vision that You gave John to give us a glimpse into Your mighty power and judgment. Thank You that Your judgment is true and just. Help us to be prepared for Your return and to turn away from all things evil. In Jesus' name, amen.
