The Right Response

The Right Response

Begin with two minutes of silence and stillness before God.

Yesterday, we looked at the heavenly throne room scene of Revelation 4, and today, chapter 5 brings us into a moment of divine tension. A scroll is seen in the right hand of God — sealed with seven seals. It holds the unfolding of God’s redemptive plan, justice, and ultimate victory. But no one is found worthy to open it. John begins to weep until a voice declares: “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has triumphed.” (v.5)

But what John sees is not a lion; instead, he sees a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain. This Lamb takes the scroll, and all of heaven erupts in worship: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain…” (v.12). This moment shows us Jesus, not just as Savior but as the only one worthy of bringing God’s plan to completion.

In a world full of counterfeit saviors and temporary fixes, Revelation 5 fixes our eyes on the only One who can open the scroll — who alone can redeem, restore, and reign: Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

When You Feel Hopeless, Remember Who Holds the Scroll

When your life feels uncertain with a job loss, illness, or a relationship breakdown, remember, the scroll is still in His hand. When the headlines of your life scream that “no one knows what’s next.” Revelation 5 says, Jesus holds the script! History... and your life are not out of control. When it seems like God’s plans are stuck or that evil is winning, Revelation 5 reminds us that God hasn’t lost the plot, and neither should you. Remember, Jesus is not reacting — He’s reigning!

Worship Is the Right Response to a Worthy Savior

I often give a lot of time to, stand in line for, or pay high prices for things we think are “worth it” — concert tickets, football games, the latest phone, or a bucket list trip. Do I worship Jesus with the same passion and priority I give to other “worthy” things? When the Lamb takes the scroll, heaven explodes in worship! Why? Because the Lamb is worthy, He alone ransomed people from every nation by His blood (v.9).

I have to remind myself that worship is my response to the One who gave everything for me. Worship resets our focus, softens our hearts, and declares, “Jesus, You are worthy!”

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelation 5:12

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
