Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read: Romans 5-6
Head
There is so much to learn when reading through Romans. Chapters 5 and 6 are no exception! I found myself getting excited about my faith as I read through these chapters. Placing our faith in Jesus doesn’t make us go from being bad to being good. Only God is truly good. When we put our faith in Jesus, we go from being spiritually dead to spiritually alive! We were lost and without hope, destined for Hell. But God, through the sacrifice of Jesus, offers us forgiveness and reconciliation. We now live a new life in Christ. We are dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Because of this, we don’t let sin rule our lives. We let righteousness rule our lives. We are free from the punishment of sin when we put our faith in Christ. We are now destined for Heaven! However, daily we choose to live like Jesus did so that we can become more like him. We still live in a broken world where sin is all around us, so we have to spend time with Jesus so that we can be ready to make choices that bring glory to God. This will reveal to others the new life we have in Christ.
Heart
Paul says in chapter 6 that we are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness. If you’ve put your faith in Jesus, sin is not your master anymore. Part of not allowing sin to be your master is confessing that sin to someone you trust. If you keep it to yourself, it’s more likely to grow. Nothing good grows in the dark. Your parents, pastor, MVMNT leader, or your KXP leader are people whom you can trust to guide you.
Is there sin in your life that you need to confess?
Hands
Say a prayer out loud to God, asking Him to forgive you of your sins. Be specific. Ask Him to show you who you can talk to about it.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the Bible. Help me to understand it and hear what you want me to hear when I read it. Lord, I want to experience your peace and joy. I submit to what You want for my life. I ask You to forgive me of my sins. Show me who I can talk to about my sin and faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
