Head

Can you think of a time you made a mess that felt impossible to clean up? I can! One time, I was working on a craft in my kitchen, and I spilled an entire container of glitter all over the floor. No matter how much I swept, mopped, and tried to wipe up the glitter, it was everywhere and sticking to everything! Even now, years later and in a new house, I still find glitter!

Sin is a lot like that. It spreads, it sticks. It can get into our hearts and minds and is impossible to clean up in our own strength, no matter how hard we try! Fortunately, we follow a God who can wash away our sins completely, taking them away and fully cleaning us from the inside out. No matter the mess we make, Hebrews 9 reminds us that when Jesus died on the cross for us, he made a way for our sin mess to be completely cleansed! And unlike glitter, our mess doesn’t linger. Christ makes us fully, forever purified!

Heart

Did you know that God didn’t wait for us to get our sin cleaned up on our own? No, God’s Word tells us in Romans 5:8 that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Even in the messiness of our sins, Jesus made a way for us to be completely cleansed. Because of His sacrifice, we are free from sin and can live fully for Him!

Hands

Since Jesus has made us completely clean, we don’t need to keep going back and trying to “scrub away” our sin on our own. Instead, we can use our freedom from sin to live boldly for Him and share the Good News of the Gospel with others!

Family Activity

Trace your hand on a sheet of paper. Then, on each finger, write one way that you can show the love of Christ to others this week. Hang this somewhere you’ll see it each day, like your fridge or mirror, as a reminder that you have been made clean through Jesus Christ and can now live like Him!
