Head

Let’s look at Matthew 26:6-13 for today’s scripture reading. Jesus is at a friend’s house eating dinner. A woman comes in, brings a very expensive bottle of perfume, and it on Jesus to show him how much she loves Him. When everyone sees her doing this, they begin to complain, saying she is wasting the expensive perfume. But then Jesus speaks up and tells them that she is doing a beautiful thing.

Jesus knows everything about us! He knows what we are thinking, and He knows what’s truly in our hearts. Jesus deserves our best in everything. He doesn’t require fancy gifts from us; He just wants our love, and that is the very best gift.

Heart

How do you think Jesus felt when he received this special gift? How would you feel if someone gave you their favorite toy as a gift? I know I would feel loved and special. Sometimes, it’s hard to be brave and do the right thing when others don’t understand what we are doing. But we honor Jesus with our lives and show Him how much we love Him when we give Him our best. And THAT is never a waste! Jesus loves it when we choose kindness, bravery, and love, even if others don’t understand.

Hands

You may not have expensive perfume to give to Jesus, but we all have something special to give Him. We may give him our time by praying or reading the Bible. We may show him our love by being kind to others. And, we can also make choices that reflect our love for Him, even when it’s hard.

What is one “beautiful thing” you can do for Jesus today?

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for loving us so much. We want to give you our best every day. Help us to show you our love by the way we treat other people today. May we always try to give you our very best and remember that when we do, we are doing a beautiful thing for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
