HEAD
Have you ever kept something special to help you remember a happy memory? Maybe a picture of a special event, a favorite toy from when you were a baby, or a souvenir from a fun vacation? Jesus gave His followers something special to help remember Him- The Lord’s Supper, which is also called Communion. On the night before Jesus died on the cross, He shared a meal with his disciples, consisting of bread and wine. He told them the bread was to remind them of His body that would die on the cross, and the wine was to remind them of His blood that He would give to save us from our sins. He told them whenever they ate the bread and drank the wine, it was to be a reminder of what He had done for them on the cross.
HEART
Jesus knew that His friends would need to remember how much He loved them. Every time a follower of Jesus takes The Lord’s Supper, they are to stop and think about Jesus’ sacrifice, His forgiveness, His love for us, and the promise that He is coming again someday.
HANDS
The Lord’s Supper is not just a snack or a tradition. It is a special time for believers to remember and thank Jesus for everything He has done. The Lord’s Supper is for those who have personally said yes to Jesus and are trusting Him as their Savior. If you are not quite ready to make that decision, or you still have lots of questions about what it means to follow Jesus, that’s ok! You can still remember that Jesus loved us enough to give His life so that we could be close to God forever! If you do feel ready to make a decision to follow Jesus and trust Him as your Savior, talk to your parent, KXP leader, or campus pastor this week!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much that you sent Jesus to die for our sins. Help us to always remember Your love and to be thankful for what You did for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
