Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Revelation 14:4
Even though our reading today is the entire chapter of Revelation 14, I want to focus on one main verse for today's devotional. Let's look at Revelation 14:4. In the middle of that verse, there is a phrase that speaks volumes to me. It says, "They follow the Lamb wherever he goes."
Head
Think about the game "Follow the Leader". How do you play that game? One person is the leader, and everyone else has to follow that person around doing exactly what they do. This is what we are called to do as Christians. We are called to follow Jesus no matter what.
In the Bible, Jesus is sometimes called the Lamb and sometimes called the Shepherd. Both show us something important about who He is. As the Lamb, Jesus gave His life for us. As the Shepherd, He lovingly leads us. Just like sheep trust their shepherd to take care of them, we can trust Jesus to lead us in the right direction. The people in Revelation 14 were loyal and listened to Jesus no matter what was going on around them, and He promised to be with them forever.
Heart
Jesus loves us so much, and He wants us to follow Him. He shows us the right way to live through His Word. When we read the Bible, God's true Word, we can learn how to follow Him every day. We don't have to be perfect. But following Jesus, like the people in Revelation, leads to everlasting life. Stay close to Him and follow Him one step at a time.
Hands
Let's practice following Jesus today! Talk with your family about what that can look like for you as you go about your day. It may be showing kindness to someone, saying "no" to something you know is not good for you, or maybe just asking God to show you which way you should go. Following Jesus is not always easy, but it is ALWAYS worth it.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for allowing Jesus to come to this earth to save us from our sins and show us how to live. Help us to follow Him every day. When other people try to get us to do things that are not good for us, give us the strength to keep our eyes on Jesus and do the right thing. Thank You that we can look to Jesus as our great Shepherd leading us to everlasting life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
