Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Ephesians 6:10-18
HEAD:
I love the first words of Ephesians 5: “Be imitators of God…as dearly loved children and live a life of love.” Seems so simple, right? But, friends, this world gets in the way. We experience trials, get so easily distracted, and desire to be accepted by our friends. Thankfully, God sent us His Word to show us exactly how to conquer the struggles and sins of the world. How do we do it? Gear up! Ephesians 6, verses 10-18, tells us to put on the “full armor of God”. Put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and have your feet ready to tell people about Jesus. Hold that shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit (the Bible), and put on the helmet of salvation. And PRAY!
HEART:
Just like armor protects a soldier at war, God’s armor protects us from the devil’s attacks. It protects us from sin, those things that separate us from our Lord. When we put on His armor, our focus is on Jesus. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:1-2 that we should “throw off everything that stands in our way…and let us keep on running the race marked out for us. Let us keep looking to Jesus.” God doesn’t promise the race will be easy, but if we put on his armor, the protection and tools we need, we can keep running. God gives us everything we need in this life.
HANDS:
Let’s pray scripture. Pray this over your family, friends, and classmates:
Prayer: Lord, make us strong. Help us to depend on Your mighty power. Help us put on all of your armor today. Let us strap on the belt of truth, wear the armor of godliness on our chest, and have our feet ready to tell the good news of peace. Help us pick up the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and take up the sword of the Holy Spirit. Help us pray ALL kinds of prayers today. Amen. (Ephesians 6:10-18, NIRV)
