Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Revelation 13:1-4
Head
In Revelation 13, John continues to tell us about the vision God gave him. He tells about two beasts in today's reading. The beasts are very scary and get their power from the dragon, or Satan, as we read yesterday. There is a second beast in the story. The scripture says it actually looked like a lamb. But this beast tricked people and got them to worship the first beast. People were amazed by the beast, and they started to follow it. These beasts tried to take God's place. They may look powerful, but they are not stronger than Jesus, and they will never win.
Heart
Even though the beasts in this story seemed big and powerful, they were only pretenders. They wanted people to think they were great, but we know that only Jesus is truly great and powerful. Sometimes, people or things in the world try to take God's place in our hearts. They may say, "Follow me!" or "This is more important than God." But just like in this story, we must remember: Jesus is the One True King, and He is the only one we should listen to and follow.
Hands
We have all been in situations where we have done things we knew in our hearts were wrong. We've been tempted to follow the wrong crowd or go along with someone who was not being honest. Or maybe we've been afraid to stand up for what is right. Each day we are given a choice – will we choose the world or Jesus? Choosing the world looks like what happened in our story today, when the people chose to follow the beast instead of Jesus. Let's claim Jesus every day! The next time you are tempted to go with the crowd, take a stand and choose JESUS instead! He is the One True KING!
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being our One True King! Help us to choose You each day. Give us courage to take a stand for You and trust that You are always with us. In Jesus' name, Amen!
