Head

Today, we're diving into Acts 1:1-11 where we witness Jesus rising into heaven. This passage marks the beginning of the Book of Acts, written by Luke, who also authored the Gospel of Luke. Acts 1:1-11 is the bridge between events recorded in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and the events marking the beginning of the church.

In these verses, Jesus spends 40 days after His resurrection appearing to His disciples, teaching them about the Kingdom of God. He instructs them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for the Holy Spirit who will give them the power to be witnesses of Jesus to the ends of the earth. As Jesus finishes speaking, He is lifted into heaven, disappearing from their sight, leaving the disciples gazing up in awe.

Heart

Let’s see where Jesus’ heart is in this passage. Despite knowing that He would soon leave them physically, Jesus reassures His disciples that they will not be left alone. He promises them the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will guide, empower, and comfort them in His absence. This act of love shows Jesus's deep care and concern for His followers, making sure that they have everything they need to continue His work on earth.

As we think about Jesus rising to Heaven, we're reminded of the sacrifice He made for us. He willingly left the comforts of Heaven, lived among us, suffered, died, and rose again—all out of love for you. Jesus rising to Heaven marks the beginning of a new chapter in God's rescue plan, as the disciples are sent to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Hands

Just as Jesus sent His disciples to be witnesses of Him, we too are called to share the Good News of Jesus with those around us. So today while you are at school, try to share the good news of Jesus with one person, how He died for our sins, and how He rose again because of His love for us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that during the day You would help me share Your Good News with one new person. I thank You and love You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
