Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read Revelation 6:1
Head
In your reading from Chapter 5 yesterday, you learned that Jesus was the Lamb and the only one worthy of opening the scroll. Well, today, in chapter 6, we get to see that scroll being opened! Every time the Lamb opened one of the seals on the scrolls, John saw something happen on earth in a vision. Each was a powerful picture of horses of different colors with riders who represented different things like war, sickness, hunger, and even death.
Heart
Maybe this sounds a little scary to you, or it doesn’t make sense to you yet. That’s okay. The most important part of this chapter for us to remember is that Jesus is still in control. He is the one who is opening the seals, and none of the big or scary visions are surprising to Him. He knew what each seal would hold, and He still knows what each day will hold for each of us. Nothing can surprise Him, and He promises that in the end He will make everything right for all who believe.
Hands
Find an envelope or a box. Write down what is bothering you or what you are struggling with this week, and put it into the box or envelope. Then, find a sticker or some tape, seal that box up, pray over it, and release it to God. Trust that He knows what is inside the box and that He is in control of it.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being in control even when what is happening around me doesn’t make sense. Thank You for knowing what is, what has been, and what is to come. Help me to remember that nothing is a surprise for You, so I have nothing to fear. In Your name we pray, Amen.
