Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Head
Welcome to the book of Second Corinthians! This book is another letter, written by the Apostle Paul, to the church in Corinth, Greece. Paul starts this letter by praising God for His comfort. He talks about how God comforts us during trials so that we can comfort others in their trials, too. According to the Enduring Word Commentary, the word "comfort" comes from the ancient Greek "paraklesis." We always think of comfort as soothing, but this word actually means strengthening, helping, and making strong! The Latin word even means brave!
Heart:
We see all through scripture examples of God being our strength and helper, and making us strong! I love that He is all of those things for us. It helps us turn around and be the same thing for others.
Hands:
Do a quick Google search for verses to find examples of God being our comfort. Write down your favorite one and put it somewhere you will see it this week. Try to memorize that verse to be reminded of where your comfort comes from and share that with a friend when they need comfort.
Prayer:
Father, thank You! Thank You for comforting us like no other. You strengthen us and make us brave so that we can withstand the hard times and share that same comfort with others during their trials. Use me, Lord, to represent You in all things! We love You! Amen.
