Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Psalms 135-136
Head
Yesterday’s reading ended in a psalm all about praising the Lord, and today’s reading begins that way too. Psalm 135 is all about praising the Lord because He is good, He is powerful, and He is amazing. The writer reminds us that God made the sky, clouds, rain, lightning, and wind; that He rescued His people; and that He is greater than any other “gods” or idols. We don’t praise fame, money, or stuff. We praise God, the one who created everything, who loves us, and sent His son Jesus!
In Psalm 136, we are encouraged to give thanks because God is good and His love goes on forever and ever. The writer of this passage repeats one line 26 times, “His love endures forever.” God’s love never stops, it never runs out, and it never changes. That is something that we can all be thankful for!
Heart
Psalm 135 and 136 both celebrate who God is, what He has done, and His love that never ends. What a perfect reminder, today, on Christmas Eve, of the proof of God’s everlasting love - Jesus! The baby in the manger was the king who changed everything forever. We praise Him and thank Him for His forever love through our Savior, Jesus.
Hands
This Christmas, you will probably exchange gifts with your family and friends. Be sure and share the greatest gift ever, the love of Jesus! Use Christmas as an opportunity to tell others about what Jesus has done for you.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for what Christmas means. Thank You for the greatest gift, Jesus. We praise You because You are amazing, and we give You thanks because Your love never ends. Help us to see Your goodness every day. Amen.
New Year, New Bible Reading Plan
At Venture Church, providing quality Daily Essential tools for spiritual development is a priority we are passionate about. As a result, we provided a Bible Reading Plan in 2020, Daily Devos in 2021, and Family Devos in 2023. We are always looking for ways to better serve the church through resources that assist in the growth of your faith. Thank you for supporting us and joining us on this journey!
This year, we have some exciting additions to our Daily Essential tools. In 2026, Venture Church will begin offering two Bible Reading Plans. Both of these plans will be delivered to your inbox in a weekly summary, replacing daily emails. Scripture, Daily Devos, Family Devos, videos, and relevant links for the week will be delivered in a single, easy-to-access email each Monday morning.
The first plan will be the New Testament Bible Reading Plan, a 5-day-a-week plan that leads readers from Matthew to Revelation in a year. Daily Devos and Family Devos will continue to help readers dig deeper into God’s Word. And this year, we are adding audio recordings of the Daily Devos for on-the-go listening!
The second Bible Reading Plan option will be the One-Year Bible Reading Plan. This 7-day-a-week plan will guide readers through the entire Bible in 365 days. If you’re looking to read all of the Word this year, this plan is for you! Though Daily Devos will not be connected to this plan, we are excited to provide introduction videos for each Book of the Bible as an additional resource.
Join us January 1st to start a new Bible Reading Plan in the New Year!
