Head: Know God’s Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God’s Way
Read 2 Thessalonians 2
Head
In these chapters, Paul expresses how thankful he is for the church in Thessalonica. Paul, along with Silas and Timothy, continues to encourage the Thessalonians and warn them about false teachings. False teachings mean teaching something about the Bible and Jesus that is not true. Some people were saying Jesus had already returned to earth. Paul reassures the Thessalonians that Jesus would come at just the right time, but that He had not yet returned. These chapters warn against being deceived by the Man of Lawlessness (the Antichrist), who Jesus will defeat when He returns.
Heart
These chapters encourage Christ followers to continue following Him until His return. We can believe everything God's Word teaches us, and if someone tries to tell us something that goes against the truth of the Bible, then we should not believe it. Chapter 2 tells us to "stand firm and hold fast to the teachings." Proverbs 4:23 says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
Hands
Take time as a family to discuss a verse that stood out to you. Encourage each other to stand firm in what you know to be true. Pick a Bible verse to memorize this week. Remembering Scripture helps our minds and hearts focus on Jesus.
Prayer: Thank You, God, for giving us Your promise to come again. Thank You for Your word in the Bible that reminds us not to be confused by the lies that Satan tries to use to confuse us. We love You and want to show others how amazing Your love is. Protect our hearts from anything that does not glorify You. Amen.
