Read Acts 27-28
Head
We wrap up Acts today. What a journey it’s been! Paul gets into another adventure today. He has a shipwreck! On his way to Rome, the ship he was sailing on was caught in a terrible storm that lasted for days. The wind was terrible, and I’m sure everyone was scared. God sent an angel to Paul to tell him not to be afraid and that everyone on the ship would live because he must be taken to Caesar. This gave the passengers encouragement! Eventually, their ship stops! It was stuck and wouldn’t move. It ran aground in a place called Malta. Then it began to break apart. But God protected everyone, and they got safely to shore. The islanders heard the noise and began coming towards the survivors. They were so kind and built a fire for them to keep them warm. While Paul was gathering some sticks to add to the fire, a viper bit him! Now, these are venomous snakes, but he was completely fine! This made the islanders believe Paul was some sort of god. Paul healed people in Malta. We don’t know if these people believed in Jesus, but Paul for sure planted some seeds while he was there. Soon after their shipwreck, they make it to Rome. Once in Rome, Paul spoke to the people about his story and continued staying there for two years, telling others about Jesus!
Heart
Paul’s entire story was full of ups and downs. He knew God’s plan for him was bigger than what was happening to him, and he wanted others to know God. God always made a way for Paul. The Holy Spirit worked through Paul to reach many people. Paul was willing to do whatever he needed to do to show others his Father. He was willing. We can be willing, too! We can obey what He tells us in His word and share His Good News with people in any situation we’re in.
Hands
Take time to share the Good News with a friend this week. Pay attention to situations you’re in that give you opportunities to tell about what God has done for you. Just be willing!
Prayer: God, we thank You for the privilege to get to share about You with others. Use me! Help me to be bold. I am willing, Lord, and ready to obey! Amen.
