Psalm 95 and 96 both talk about singing to the Lord. Psalm 95 says, "Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord." And in Psalm 96 we read, "Sing to the Lord a new song". We sing when we are happy or excited. We sing to worship the Lord! Have you ever heard someone sing when they are sad? Singing is not something you want to do when you're having a bad day. But if you sing even when you don't feel like it, God can begin to change your hearts and help you feel better.

One of my favorite things about church at Venture is WORSHIP. Our worship team does an amazing job leading us into the presence of the Lord. They create an environment where we are able to sing to the Lord and give him our praise. We sing to the Lord to celebrate all He is and all He has done for us. We sing with joy because it shows Him how much we love him.

But singing is not the only way we worship God. We can also worship him with our words, our prayers, and our lives.

Heart

When we remember who God is and how powerful and loving He is, our hearts should be full of nothing but joy and thankfulness for all He has done for us. When we sing to God, it helps us feel close to Him and remember we are not alone. He is always with us and is always in control. Even when life is hard or we feel grumpy, singing praises to God can change our mood and help us feel peace and joy.

Hands

"Sing to the Lord a NEW song". How creative can you be today? Have your family work together to create a new song to sing to God. It can be as short or as long as you want. Have fun and remember to sing it with JOY.

Prayer: Dear God, we are so thankful for the gift of a song. Help us to remember all the ways you have blessed us, and may we sing with joy as we worship You this week. In Jesus' name, Amen.
