Head

Have you ever made something special, like a painting, a LEGO creation, or a craft? You probably felt proud of it because you made it! That’s how God feels about you.
Ephesians 2 tells us that we are God’s masterpiece.

That means you are one of a kind—carefully and wonderfully made by Him. But this chapter also reminds us that we needed help. It says we were once “dead in our sins.” That doesn’t mean our hearts weren’t beating—it means we were separated from God because of the wrong things we do. Sin makes it hard for us to live the way God wants us to.

Heart

But guess what? God didn’t leave us that way!

Verse 4 says, “Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ.” That means God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to save you. Jesus took the punishment for our sins so we could be close to God again.

Now here comes the really amazing part. Ephesians 2:8–9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Let’s break that down.

Grace means getting something good that we didn’t earn—like when someone gives you a present just because they love you, not because you did anything to deserve it. That’s what salvation is! God gives it to us as a gift. We can’t earn it by being really good or by doing a bunch of nice things.

Hands

Imagine if you had to do 1,000 chores just to be loved. That wouldn’t feel like love, would it?

God doesn’t want us to try to earn His love—He already loves us more than we can imagine. All He asks is that we believe in Him and trust Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10 also says we are created to do good works. That means once we’ve received God’s love, we get to share it with others by being kind, helpful, and loving.

But remember: we don’t do good things to get saved—we do them because we are saved!

So remember, you are God’s masterpiece. He made you, He loves you, and He gave you the best gift ever: salvation through Jesus. You don’t have to earn it. You just have to say yes to His love.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for loving me even when I mess up. Thank You for the gift of grace and for saving me through Jesus. Help me remember that I don’t have to earn Your love—I already have it! Show me ways to love others and do good things because I love and follow You. I want to be a shining light for You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
