Read Revelation 12

Head

When I read Revelation 12, I feel like I am reading about a scene straight from a movie. But this is no movie. This is how John is describing what God showed him in a special vision. John saw a woman and a dragon. The woman was shining bright in the sky and had a crown of 12 stars. She was about to have a baby. There was a big red dragon waiting to attack the baby as soon as he was born. But just as the baby was born, God rescued the baby and took him up to be with him. This made the dragon very mad, so he went to Heaven and started a war. But have no fear, God's angels fought the dragon and WON! The dragon was thrown down to earth and out of Heaven.

Heart

When we read stories like this in the Bible, sometimes the characters represent other things really going on in the story. In this story, the woman represents God's people. The baby represents Jesus, and the big red dragon represents Satan. Satan is always at war and trying to fight against God's people. But just like in this story, God has a great and perfect rescue plan for all who trust in Him. Even though we don't actually see dragons at war in the sky, we all face hard times in our lives. Sometimes we feel scared, other times we may just feel like giving up because something is hard. When we face times like this, let's remember that God is on our side and He fights our battles!

Hands

What can we do when we are afraid or feel discouraged about things that happen to us?

  • Pray first! Tell God what you are afraid of or what you are worried about.
  • Speak truth out loud! You can say something like, "Jesus fights my battles, and I trust in him."
  • Be brave! Remember that God is with you always.

We can trust that Jesus is stronger than all our problems. He loves us and will fight for us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for fighting our battles. Thank You for sending Jesus to save us so we can be with You forever. Help us to be brave when we are afraid and when we face hard things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
