Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:5
Head:
Today, we see Paul continuing to write to his friends in Thessalonica. He tells them that Jesus will one day come back like a thief in the night, meaning we won’t know when it will happen. He encourages them to always be ready and prepared and to live in a way that is pleasing to God. If we had a checklist for the things he shared, it would probably look like this:
Be joyful, always!
Pray any time and all the time.
Always be thankful.
Encourage one another!
All these things help us live a life that shows our love for Jesus.
Heart:
Imagine you have a big test at school tomorrow. You don't know exactly when the test will start, but you know it's coming. A smart student would study and get ready, right? He wouldn't waste time playing video games and then be surprised and unprepared when the test begins.
Hands:
Jesus' return is like that test! We don't know exactly when it will happen, but we know it's coming. So, instead of being unprepared, we can prepare by doing what Paul talks about in these verses! We can be joyful, pray, and be thankful.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for loving us and for the gift of Your Word. Help us always be joyful, pray without ceasing, and be thankful in all things. Please help us to be ready for Jesus' return by living as children of the Light. Help us to love our friends and family and to build them up. In Jesus' name, Amen
