Head

Why do we need rules?

God wants us to respect rules and leaders because they help keep order and protect people. Obedience isn’t just about “following rules”—it’s about learning to trust God’s design for families, schools, and communities. Rules are meant to guide us toward what is good and safe. God gave us parents, teachers, and leaders to help us. When we listen, we show we trust God.

Heart

Reread Titus 3:1.

Respect grows from a thankful heart—thankful for the people God puts in our lives to help us. Obedience should come not from fear, but from love for God and wanting to please Him. We can feel peace knowing that obeying rules keeps us safe and helps others. When I listen to my parents or teachers, it makes them happy, and it makes God happy too. That makes my heart glad.

Hands
  • Practice daily obedience: Follow directions the first time without complaining.
  • Show respect for authority: Use kind words like “yes ma’am / yes sir” or “thank you.”
  • Be ready to do good: Look for ways to help—hold a door, clean up without being asked, encourage a friend.

Try to obey the first time you’re asked this week—and think of one way you can do good at school or at home.

Prayer: God, thank You for giving us parents, teachers, and leaders to help us. Help us obey and do good with happy hearts. Amen.
