Reading Plan:
Daniel 7

Our Thoughts:
When I think back on the times in my life when God spoke something to me, I oftentimes find that it didn’t come with clarity right away. But I could rest knowing that His intended message would become clear in His perfect timing. Can you relate? Do you ever feel like God is trying to tell you something, but you can’t quite understand what it is yet? We serve a mysterious God who is full of surprises and goodness. Ephesians 1 tells us that He gives us all the wisdom and understanding we need, and He makes known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure! He loves to speak to us, and He will also provide us with the wisdom we need to understand what He is saying.

When we read Daniel Chapter 7, we see that Daniel received a message from God through a dream that needed some serious interpretation. It says at the very end of the chapter that Daniel was deeply troubled by this revealed message. If you keep reading, you will find that the meaning of the message unfolds before Daniel. His response continues to reveal his character. Daniel faithfully serves right where God has him without allowing his emotions or concerns to distract him from his purpose.

So, what do we do when we are waiting on answers or an understanding to be revealed to us? Our answer is found in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 where it says, “For those that have been entrusted with the mysteries of God, it is required that we prove ourselves faithful to have received such a gift.” We keep doing what we know is right. We keep seeking him. We keep praying, and we watch with eager expectation for the answer, wisdom, and understanding to be revealed. He is a faithful God who will show up in His perfect timing. I pray that we all have the patience and endurance needed to wait on Him.

More Questions:
1. In what ways do you see God speak to you the most?
2. How do you react when you feel God is trying to tell you something, but you don’t quite understand what it is?

Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for entrusting me with the mysteries of Your will. Help me to always take Your messages and lessons seriously and to never discount how You choose to speak. Thank you, Lord, that You choose to speak to me even though I am not needed for your purposes to prevail.
