Reading Plan:
Acts 23

Our Thoughts:
After reading the letter, the governor asked Paul what province he came from and was told “Cilicia.” Then he said, “I’ll take up your case when your accusers show up.” He ordered him locked up for the meantime in King Herod’s official quarters. Acts 23:34-35.

After Paul shares his testimony with his peers and officials, he is thrown into jail. Talk about a letdown. I mean, since his conversion, he has been 100% faithful to God, and look where it gets him - in prison.

This is the unfortunate truth for followers of Jesus. God never promises us a life free of pain, setback, and hurt. However, Romans 8:28 reassures us that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

In the days to come, we are going to see how Paul chooses to view his imprisonment as a divine appointment set up by God. His jail sentence marks the beginning of thousands of Roman citizens and officials converting to Christianity!

Paul is intentional not to allow a detour to derail his calling to lead people to Jesus. I hope this chapter will encourage you to view your current setback as a setup. If leveraged, this setback will lead you and those around you to Jesus!

More Questions:
- Do you think you are on a detour right now? Think through how you got here and why.
- How can you allow this setback to be leveraged by God for your good and His Glory?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I trust that your will and your way are perfect. When I doubt your plans, please remind me of your sovereignty and perfect plan. Give me faith to leverage this season of my life for your Glory. Amen!
