Reading Plan:
Acts 7

Our Thoughts:
I believe there are certain things we all have in our lives that we view as our biggest weakness. Things we shy away from because we know we aren't good at doing them. For me, it has always been writing. I guess because I never considered myself good at English so why would I ever try to write something? So, why am I here writing content for a devotional? The only answer I have for you is, the opportunity presented itself and I said yes. Shortly after this commitment, I quickly started asking myself, "What have you done?" I continually prayed and asked God if I should have declined. I didn't know where to start and grew more anxious with each passing day. That's when Stephen's words in Acts 7:22 caught my attention. He says, "Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action."
I find it very interesting that as Stephen speaks of all the events leading up to Jesus dying on the cross, he gives us insight into who Moses was through the eyes of history. He speaks of his wisdom and specifically states how powerful he was with his speech. Wait, What? Moses...powerful in speech? Wasn't that the very thing that Moses considered to be his weakness? Didn't he question God and ask Him to choose someone else because he considered himself "slow in speech?" Yes! We are given a clear picture in Exodus 4 of just how unqualified Moses considered himself to be, yet we are also given a clear picture throughout Scripture of God's power at work through Moses. Moses is remembered as a hero of the faith because he said, "yes" - even in the face of fear and weakness.
For me, I believe God wants to teach me something new in spite of my weakness. That leads me to one question for you. What is it in your life that you believe disqualifies you from living the life God has called you to live? Are you willing to say yes anyway in order to watch God's power at work through you? I believe his response to us is the same as it was to Moses, "Now go, I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." May we all have the courage we need to go wherever He leads.

More Questions:
What giftings have other people seen in you that you don't see in yourself?
What would it take for you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new?

Prayer:
Lord, show me what areas in my life you want to refine to use for your glory and honor. I believe your power in me is stronger than my weaknesses. Please give me the confidence I need to step out of my comfort zone so that I can experience more of you!
