Breath of God

Breath of God

Begin with two minutes of silence and stillness before God.

If you've made it to the 11th chapter of Revelation today, I commend you! Revelation has always been a challenging book for me, and I believe many would echo that sentiment. John's incredible vision, intended for the first-century churches in Asia Minor, is both profound and unique. Although Revelation differs from other books of the Bible, I approach its study much like I do with the others. I appreciate the SOAP method that Venture uses; it's both straightforward and impactful.

Today, Revelation 11:11 caught my attention:

"But after three and a half days, the breath of God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them." (CSB)

As we witness the unfolding of this vision, we see evil attempting to eliminate God's witnesses, yet God remains undeterred. After three and a half days, He breathes life back into these men, instilling fear in the hearts of those who observed.

When this letter was received by the churches in Asia Minor, they were under persecution. Although this vision speaks of future events, it undoubtedly offered great encouragement to the early Christians reading John's Revelation. I can almost hear God conveying to them, "Though darkness may appear to be prevailing, don't worry—the Light that brings life is on the way. Death lost its sting at the Cross, and the One who holds the keys to life and death has the final word."

I found that encouragement from God's Word today. I am facing a situation in my life where I need God to breathe life anew. I trust that He will act in His perfect timing. He knows the beginning and the end; He can transform what is dead into something alive. His love for me is unwavering, and His plans for me are good.

Do you have circumstances where you need God to revive hope? I urge you to call out to the Life Giver today. I truly believe He desires to breathe life into areas that seem hopeless. He is faithful.

Lord, thank You for creating me and breathing life into my being. Thank You that even in challenging times, You have good plans for me. You are the Way Maker, all-powerful, and in You, there is abundant LIFE. Thank You for breathing life into the areas that need resurrection around me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:

Use the S.O.A.P. Method to study God's Word.

  • SCRIPTURE: What stands out to you in today's passage?
  • OBSERVATION: What is this text saying? What is the context? How does it fit with the verses before and after it? Are there any commands, instructions, or promises?
  • APPLICATION: How can you apply this verse to your life? What does this mean today? What is God saying to you?
  • PRAYER: Respond to the passage in prayer. Ask God to help you apply this truth to your life and spend some time listening to what He may be telling you.
