Head

Father Abraham had many sons. Many sons had Father Abraham.

Abraham was 99, and his wife Sarah was 90 years old when God promised to bless them with a son named Isaac. Sarah had not been able to have children at that point. Yet Abraham still believed God would keep his promise. Even though the situation seemed hopeless, Abraham believed God. He was “fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised.” This chapter is not the only place in Scripture that says Abraham’s faith was “credited to him as righteousness.” I love that the God of the Universe will give us credit when we live out our faith. When we live in a way that shows we have faith in God’s power to keep His promises, it is noticed and recognized in Heaven. God promises to forgive our sins and cover us with the righteousness of Christ when we put our faith in Him. We can be “fully persuaded” that He will keep that promise.

Heart

Are you fully persuaded that God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you? Are you convinced that God is for you? Do you believe that God is with you and will never forsake you? What aspect of your life do you need to bring to Jesus and ask for help to have faith?

Hands

Talk to your family or write down in a journal what you believe about God. Start with three characteristics of God and three promises He’s made to you. Then discuss or write down one way you can live out your faith in God.

Prayer: Dear God, You are mighty. You are loving. You are just. You are kind. You are everything I need. I want to know more about You, and I want to understand more of your promises. Help me to have faith like Abraham. Help me to be fully convinced of who You are and what You promise. I love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
