Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Psalms 133-134
Head
We are continuing in the Songs of Ascent today, and these two chapters teach us about important things we should practice daily: getting along with others and worshipping the Lord!
Psalm 133 reminds us that God’s people are called to live in peace and unity. Yes, this is even (and maybe especially) talking about getting along with your siblings! God is pleased when we get along and when we work together, every day and everywhere.
Psalm 134 is like a big invitation that says, “Come on! Let’s praise the Lord!!” We can praise God by telling Him how wonderful He is and how much we love Him, by praying to Him and thanking Him for our many blessings, and by singing songs to worship His greatness. We should do this every day and everywhere!
Heart
In Psalm 134, the writer is encouraging praise to the Lord, even when tired, weary, or burdened. It encourages us to lift our hands towards the Lord and praise Him. This is a good reminder that we can praise God when we are happy and excited, but also praise God when we are sad, scared, or upset. Praise and worship are not meant to be done only at church on Sunday, but anytime and anywhere! It can be quiet or loud. It can be done in the car or while brushing our teeth. Our praise can be bringing God our words of thankfulness or bringing God our tears of sadness. Our God is good, and He deserves our praise every day and everywhere.
Hands
If you have been following along with our Christmas Countdown Activities for Families, you might have seen that today’s activity was to have a family Christmas sing-along. What better time to sing worship songs to the Lord together with your family than today? Pick your favorite Christmas worship song, raise your hands to the Lord, and worship our Savior!
Prayer: God, we praise Your name!! Help us to get along and live in harmony for You, Lord. Thank You for loving us and being so, so good. Help us to praise You every day, everywhere. Amen.
New Year, New Bible Reading Plan
At Venture Church, providing quality Daily Essential tools for spiritual development is a priority we are passionate about. As a result, we provided a Bible Reading Plan in 2020, Daily Devos in 2021, and Family Devos in 2023. We are always looking for ways to better serve the church through resources that assist in the growth of your faith. Thank you for supporting us and joining us on this journey!
This year, we have some exciting additions to our Daily Essential tools. In 2026, Venture Church will begin offering two Bible Reading Plans. Both of these plans will be delivered to your inbox in a weekly summary, replacing daily emails. Scripture, Daily Devos, Family Devos, videos, and relevant links for the week will be delivered in a single, easy-to-access email each Monday morning.
The first plan will be the New Testament Bible Reading Plan, a 5-day-a-week plan that leads readers from Matthew to Revelation in a year. Daily Devos and Family Devos will continue to help readers dig deeper into God’s Word. And this year, we are adding audio recordings of the Daily Devos for on-the-go listening!
The second Bible Reading Plan option will be the One-Year Bible Reading Plan. This 7-day-a-week plan will guide readers through the entire Bible in 365 days. If you’re looking to read all of the Word this year, this plan is for you! Though Daily Devos will not be connected to this plan, we are excited to provide introduction videos for each Book of the Bible as an additional resource.
Join us January 1st to start a new Bible Reading Plan in the New Year!
