HEAD

It’s not fair! I’ve heard it a thousand times. And sometimes…it’s true. Somebody got blamed for something they didn’t do; the teacher made the whole class sit at recess for talking, but you never said a word; somebody did something bad, but seemed to get rewarded for it. We’ve been talking about Paul this week, and his time in prison for serving the Lord just doesn’t seem fair. Here’s the truth in Psalm 73. Bad things can happen to people who love Jesus. Sometimes people who make bad choices get good things in return, and we think for a second that it could be fun to make bad choices. But this passage reminds us that we have a gift that only comes from the Lord. He holds our hand and walks with us through this life. We are safe and can have joy because the Lord gives us everything we need.

HEART

Think back to when you were in preschool. As your teacher walked you out to the car or across a parking lot, she grabbed your hand. She kept you safe even when you didn’t realize you needed it. You could have fun and play because you knew the teacher was nearby to protect you. The Lord does the same. He takes our hand to keep us safe, even when we think we’re ok. It may seem fun sometimes to make bad choices, but I promise you can have so much more fun when you’re holding onto the Lord. He will hold your hand through some amazing journeys in this life. Let’s not forget…this is the same God who packed an ark full of unique creatures, created your smile and laughter, and gave us the incredible gift of joy in all circumstances. He’s so much fun!

HANDS

Take hold of the hand of someone you love today. Tell them you love them and remind them that Jesus loves them even more. I’m guessing this will bring you and that person smiles and joy.

Prayer: Lord, I want to have fun obeying you. Thank you for always taking care of me, making me feel safe, and giving me joy. I love you, Lord. Amen.
