Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Proverbs 25:21-22
“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.” Proverbs 25:21-22
Head
When someone is mean or rude to us, our first instinct usually isn’t to be kind in return. But Proverbs gives us surprising advice: show kindness even to people who are unkind. It may be easier to be mean back, but God’s wisdom tells us to do the opposite. When we are kind to those who hurt us, it gives them a chance to reflect on their actions and possibly change their hearts. This kind of kindness is powerful, and it pleases God.
Heart
When someone hurts us, it can make our hearts feel angry or sad. But Jesus gave us a better example. He forgave those who were mean to Him and loved them anyway. God wants our hearts to be filled with love, forgiveness, and kindness—even when it’s hard. When we choose kindness, we trust that God sees our actions and can use them to show others His love.
Hands
We live in a world where people are sometimes unkind, so it’s important to decide ahead of time how we’ll respond.
If someone is mean to you at school, pray for them instead of saying something unkind. If a sibling takes your toy, try sharing something else with them. Make up your mind to be kind—even when it’s not easy. Remember, God SEES your kindness, and He may use it to change someone else’s heart.
Prayer:
Dear God, help me be kind even when others aren’t. Fill my heart with Your love so I can treat everyone the way Jesus would. Thank You for seeing my actions and helping me grow to be more like You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
