Head

Today, we're continuing to read in the book of Revelation. Let's turn to Chapter 5 together! In today's passage, John, the writer of Revelation, shares the picture of Heaven he experiences. He sees God sitting on the throne, holding a scroll sealed with seven seals. This scroll represents God's mighty plans, purposes, and ways for the world. These plans are so mysterious and amazing that they are far greater than anything we could ever imagine, and they remind us that God will bring justice and make things right.

But there's a big problem: no one in Heaven or on Earth is worthy to open the scroll. When John realizes this in this chapter, he begins to cry because it seems no one can carry out God's plan. He felt hopeless and heartbroken. But let's read verse 5 and see what happens next: Then one of the elders says, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed."

Can you guess what John sees next? A LAMB! The Lamb looks like it has been sacrificed, but somehow it is still alive. This Lamb is Jesus. He was sacrificed for us, yet he is still alive! He alone is worthy because He gave His life for us.

Heart

What does this passage mean for us? First, this vision John writes about shows how special Jesus is. Have you ever heard Jesus called the Lion and the Lamb? He's the Lion, powerful and victorious. He's also the Lamb, gentle and sacrificial. No one else could save us or make things right with God. No other person could complete God's plans for all creation. Only Jesus could do that by dying on the cross and rising again, allowing us to have a relationship with him.

When we feel scared or unsure, we can remember that Jesus has already won the greatest battle. He is strong enough to rule the world, but loving enough to care about each of us. Heaven celebrates Jesus, and we can worship Him too!

Hands

No matter what we face, we can always remember that Jesus is in control! Because of His great sacrifice and His great love, we don't have to be afraid! He deserves all of our worship. How can you worship God this week? You can sing a song to him, share Him with others, and live in a way that honors Him! Start by saying a prayer together, giving thanks to Jesus for his sacrifice and his mighty power!
