Reading Plan:
Daniel 10

Our Thoughts:
There is no doubt that Daniel's prayer life was thriving. We see Daniel pray in almost every chapter of the book of Daniel despite the danger or circumstances that he faced. The special thing we read about today in Daniel 10 is the perseverance of Daniel’s faith. Daniel prayed fervently to seek understanding, but God withheld His answers from Daniel for twenty-one days. Finally, a messenger from God (an angel) came to Daniel to tell him that God had heard his prayers from day one, but a heavenly conflict had caused a delay.
It's easy for us to look at the situations we face with our earthly understanding and forget the very real unseen world that impacts everything around us. When we become so focused on our day-to-day lives, we can forget the existence of angelic conflicts and wars waged in the heavens on our behalf. When we remember that supernatural events have earthly impacts, we have a better understanding of what might be taking place when we pray and as a result, we are better postured for prayer.

I know in my life, waiting for direction from our Lord is one of the hardest things for me to do. And if you’re like me, sometimes we can become impatient and frustrated and maybe even feel like God isn't listening to us. It can feel like God is refusing to answer our prayer, but maybe there is more surrounding the situation than we can see. Some battles are being fought and won right now on your behalf that will lead to your breakthrough. God has taught me through this reading that we can rest confidently knowing our Lord hears our prayers from the moment we speak them, and He will send angels to fight on our behalf. Waiting may be hard, but the wait has a purpose.

More Questions:
• What is God showing or teaching me during my waiting?
• How can you become closer to God through this process?
• How can you use this experience to help someone else?

Prayer:
Thank you, God, for being a promise keeper in my life. I know You do all things for the good of me, and I pray that you instill patience and clarification in my life. Be with me and strengthen me so that I will not falter in my faith, but instead be an example of your faithfulness. Amen.
